Short Description:
The Guilders Bank is the financial heart of the city: an exclusive, heavily guarded institution where only recognized guild members are allowed. Here, treasures are stored, contracts are formalized, and loans are issued to established artisans and trading houses.
Appearance & Architecture:
Rising from the heart of the city like a golden sentinel, the Guilders Bank is carved from warm sandstone that gleams under the desert sun. Broad steps lead to massive brass doors etched with abstract patterns of dunes and winding trade routes, welcoming those of standing while turning away the uninvited. Thick walls and arched windows provide respite from the heat, their latticework filtering sunlight into intricate patterns across the polished floors. Inside, the hall stretches vast and airy beneath a domed ceiling painted with constellations and gilded desert winds. Black and red marble counters line the space, their surfaces cooled by hidden aqueduct channels, while hanging orbs of molten glass mimic the shifting light of the sun, casting a golden glow over every corner. At the rear, hidden stairways and fortified doors lead to arcane vaults, guarded by runes and seals that respond only to the guild’s chosen.
What People Say:
“This is where the guilders keep their wealth — and where loans are only granted to those with reputation enough to repay them.”
“No guild? No entry. The doors won’t even open for you.”
“Even thieves say trying to break in is suicide.”
Actual Purpose:
The bank manages the entire flow of money between and within the guilds: transactions, contract capital, treasure security, economic oversight, and consolidating the influence of the guild coalition across the city.
